Rich Baxter, Director

Rich is an experienced island ecologist with over a decade of experience in the Western Indian Ocean region. In this time, he has developed a deep appreciation and fascination for the region's biodiversity, leading him to become a country member of the IUCN SSC Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group (TFTSG).

Rich has dedicated significant effort towards active habitat restoration, and tortoise rewilding throughout this period. His work involves spending most of his time in the field ‘chasing’ tortoises and promoting the importance of protecting and conserving functional ecosystems in order to conserve species.
